Did you choose a Legal or Symbolic ceremony? Legal ceremony
If legal, what was your experience obtaining all the correct documentation? Our marriage certificate has not arrived in the mail yet, but it takes 6-8 weeks to arrive after your ceremony in Jamaica. The only thing we had to do in advance is mail color notarized copies of our passports to the resort (which it was a surprisingly $60 to mail a letter to Jamaica). The pastor came and met with us the day before the wedding and was very inspiring and gave us his advice for a long and happy marriage.
Wedding colors: Orange and Teal Blue
Wedding Dress and Attire: We kept it pretty simple! See pictures…
Wedding Theme: Starfish….beachy….
Wedding Coordinator: Our wedding planner was great and available for any questions or anything we wanted to have arranged. I would say a destination wedding is (or mine was) something that is for the ‘laid back’ bride. I picked out the flowers I wanted the day before! Truthfully they are willing and ready to make anything happen….but in Jamaica…no one is in a hurry! We only knew our spa appointments (hair…make-up etc) the day before the wedding (btw the SPA was fantastic! They did a great job, we even went back and got our nails done – even though we had all had them done ahead of time in Canada). Also, we didn’t meet the photographer until we walked down the aisle.
Wedding Photographer and Feedback: We just used the photographer at the hotel. She did a fantastic job, and we were able to see the pictures two days after. It cost $360 for our package of 40 pics, including touch ups. I thought this was very reasonable.
Wedding Flowers and Decor: The resort provided the brides bouquet with the wedding package and we paid extra for the bridesmaid flowers. They had a binder of about 6 styles to choose from…simple but they looked amazing.
Wedding Favours: We brought our own embroidered beach towels that we handed out at our cocktail party.
Wedding guest welcome gifts: I made a CD of beachy tunes with a little welcome note, that our wedding planner left in each guests room.
Why did you pick this location and resort for your wedding? It had great reviews on tripadvisor.com and truthfully this hotel was AMAZING!!! Every single guest commented on how this was the best resort they have ever stayed at. I would highly recommend it! In fact one of the couples has already booked a trip back to this hotel next year! I can’t even begin to go into all of the details….but if you wanted it…it was included! And the weather was amazing!
Best moment of your wedding: Walking out onto the beach!
Unique Opportunity: A free bus takes you into Montego on Thursday nights to Margaritaville…this was fun!
Group Activities: We did a group snorkel trip…which was kind of cool, because the boat dropped you off and you swam through the surf and the boat picked you up on the other side
Feedback of the resort: Everything was amazing; the Japanese Restaurant was our favourite. …24 hr room service, each room had a butler and he would do anything for you! He ran baths, made dinner reservations, got you a paper and even brought us a 26 of rum to take home.
Your advice to future destination wedding couples: I would recommend this hotel 100%. I can’t think of a single thing I would change.
On the return flight…my bag got searched through (after I checked it) and when I arrived in Canada…ALL of my jewellery had been stolen…including my perfume and a few other small things. So I would recommend not checking anything that you would be sad to lose. Put it in your carry-on!!
